Stones occur anywhere in the urinary tract (kidneys, bladder, ureters, urethra) and are called renal or urinary calculi. Occurrences in the salivary duct are called salivary calculi. Symptoms: Usually symptoms are not apparent until a stone blocks the urinary tract. Possible symptoms are: sudden severe and excruciating back pain which may come and go and often radiates from the back across the abdomen and into the genital area or inner thighs, may be associated with nausea, vomiting, abdominal bloating, possible blood in urine, pain during urination and chills and fever.
